Truck Inn is an exciting new development designed to directly meet the specific needs of long haul and local truck drivers in Australia, particularly in relation to legislation regarding mandatory stops and driver occupational health and safety. Truck Inn is the brainchild of Heather Jones, Managing Director of Success Transport, and is intended to meet the needs of drivers in a relaxing and functional environment.

Heather has been involved in the trucking and transport industry for 20 years and has been managing trucking and logistics companies for the last 7 years. Within that time she has grown her own business, Success Transport, which now includes a fleet of 17 trucks and a team of 12 permanent drivers. Heather is one of Australia’s most impressive young business women and as such has received much national publicity in the last few years . She is often asked to speak around the country at various conferences and training seminars. Heather has won a number of awards, including most recently:
- Winner of the 2005 WA Transport Woman of the Year
- Winner 40 under 40, recognising the top 40 business people in Western Australia under the age of 40
- 2006 WA Westpac Business Owner Award, part of the Telstra Business Women’s Awards
- 2006 State Finalist Max Winkless Volvo: Outstanding Contribution to the WA Road Transport Industry Award
Heather is currently a finalist in the Australian Truck Association ‘Transport Woman of the Year’, the winner of which will be announced at the Final Awards Ceremony in Cairns Saturday April 15th 2007.
As expected, much interest has been generated in this landmark concept. Many large national and international companies have expressed interest to be involved in the development of the model. The planning of the pilot site is currently being finalised and the Planning Application was submitted to the City of Swan on the 10th April 2007. We now eagerly await their decision.
The Truck Inn concept uses a combination of prefabricated elements and purpose-built facilities to best suit the needs of professional heavy vehicle drivers thus enabling this and subsequent sites to be implemented quickly and efficiently. Over the next 7 years the freight that has to be transported by the trucking industry in Australia is expected to double in order to keep up with the growing Australian economy . Therefore, Truck Inn has the very real potential of being implemented across Australia within a very short period of time in order to meet the current and future needs of this industry. Heather plans to have a number of Truck Inn sites up and running as soon as possible in preparation to meet the needs of that rapid growth. Four additional sites have been earmarked for development in Western Australia (already booming with transport and mining), with plans to go national in the immediate future.
